Prison Outreach Project
What is the Prison Outreach Project?
The Prison Outreach Project (POP) works with offenders in HMP Edinburgh, HMP Cornton Vale and Polmont Young Offenders Institution to address and prevent housing and related problems.
What does the service provide?
The POP service is based in the prison’s LINKS centres. Outreach workers hold surgeries for offenders to help prevent abandonment of tenancies and resulting rent arrears, other debt and possible evictions. POP workers also have on-going contact with on-going offenders who are about to be released, to support them access accommodation, furniture and support in their new tenancy.
How does the service work?
Referrals to POP will be made either through Scottish Prison Service Staff via the Core Screen or self-referral. POP works with individuals and groups of offenders, especially those going through an Induction Programme.
